MV switchgear in the mine – the key to reliable power supply PRG-M
MV switchgear in mining are the heart of power distribution. Their quality determines continuity of extraction, safety of people and availability of machines. PRG-M Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Górniczo-Montażowych designs, constructs and commissions comprehensive power systems for mines – from Trafo station chambers, through MV installations, to MV/LV cable lines and communications.
MV switchgear – design and construction (PRG-M)
Selection of switchgear (AIS/GIS, bus configuration, short-circuit currents, selectivity) starts with a power audit and the load profile of the extraction faces. PRG-M selects 6–20 kV equipment, designs current paths, feeder bays and protections, and also carries out walls and slabs for foundations as well as electrical structures and equipment in accordance with mining regulations.
We focus on operational ergonomics and serviceability – clear bays, safe maneuvering zones, mechanical and electrical interlocks, as well as systemy belt conveyor control integrated with the switchgear.

MV Trafo station chambers – safety, air conditioning and ventilation

Construction of MV Trafo station chambers includes selection of transformers, fire protection, gas detection and installation of air-conditioning systems. PRG-M constructs inspection chambers, cable ducts, installation of hoists and cranes and full ventilation and dams – making the stations safe and easy to maintain.
In a mine it is crucial to limit internal arcing and properly route escape routes, as well as rapidly dissipate heat from oil-filled or resin-filled transformers.

MV installations – protections, automation and SZR systems
PRG-M carries out the construction and installation of MV systems: instrument transformers, differential and distance protections, automation and AOT for horizontal transport, as well as SZR systems. We integrate controllers (PROMOS/PROTOS/INCOM/ELSAP), communications and remote supervision so operators have full visibility of network status.
As standard we prepare operating scenarios: normal run, emergency, maintenance with LOTO locks and field tests with disturbance recording.
MV/LV cable lines – routes, joints and mechanical protection

We perform the construction of MV cable lines and LV along with routes, penetrations, protections and labeling. PRG-M selects cross-sections, carries out jointing, VLF tests and voltage tests. For long sections we use intermediate chambers and cable reserves, and in exposed areas – protective plates and temperature sensors.
We also design the construction of accompanying telecommunication lines (control fiber), so power and communication are consistent from end to end.

Telecommunication lines – FTTx and mine communications

A modern mine requires connectivity: monitoring, telemetry and control. PRG-M builds telecommunication lines to FTTx standards, links them with switchgear control systems, and also integrates telephony, Wi-Fi and LTE-MCX in mining roadways.
We implement link redundancy, build inspection chambers and ensure EMC compatibility so that electrical equipment operation does not disturb transmission.

Example of surface solutions – distribution stations for infrastructure facilities
Our competences also cover surface facilities: MV switchgear construction, containerization and full cable infrastructure. This allows us to couple the mine’s power with logistics and ventilation support.
